Real Members. Real Players. Real Friends.

Real Poker LLC is a private, membership club. To become a member, you must have an existing member as a sponsor. If you don't know any existing members, come to any of our events and get to know someone. Chances are good that any existing member will be more than happy to sponsor you as a member. Membership is easy... and we welcome new members. Once you complete and submit your membership application (below or on-site at events), you'll begin enjoying all the benefits of Real Poker membership.

Membership is $40/year for up to 5 years max ($200 lifetime max). This is the club’s way of crowdfunding the startup and continued growth of the club om future years.

Per the club operating agreement: All members must make a lifetime aggregate capital contribution of $160-$200. This is how we crowdfund our club’s startup and ongoing operations. Capital contributions are assessed in the form of annual membership fees that members pay to the cooperative. A $40 annual club membership is effectively a layaway plan to lifetime membership. If $40 is a financial hardship for you, the club offers alternatives. Speak to or e-mail the club Treasurer. Member’s capital contributions are used to crowdfund the club and service interest-free loans made to the club by the founders during pre-revenue and startup phases of operation, including incorporating and licensing, initial equipment, ongoing maintenance and upgrades, expansion, and reserves for various programs in furtherance of our exempt purpose.

Your first year membership fee may be waived:
FIRST YEAR MEMBERSHIP FREE ($40 value)
For bona fide* members of any defunct “social gambling” cardroom in Arizona.

The club operates with complete transparency, open meetings, and open books. All financial transactions are available to all members for review. Audited budget and balance sheets are provided at regular membership meetings. It is of paramount importance that the club's ethical, responsible, civil activities are above board and beyond reproach.

What is Real Poker?

Real Poker LLC is a 501c7 social club that operates as a not-for-profit player’s co-operative. The club is 100% owned and operated by its members. Real Poker effectively brings our collective “social gambling” home games and leagues under one “amusement gambling” umbrella.
Real Poker’s exempt purpose is “the proliferation of the appreciation, understanding and play of poker throughout Arizona”. This includes, but is not limited to, the seven of 15 counties that do not have access to professional, competitive poker games or contests.
As the creator, and top-of-mind brand, of this new vertical market for amusement gambling poker tournaments (AGPTs), Real Poker creates a paradigm shift in how – and where – traditional poker contests can be conducted in Arizona. We actively encourage others to follow our lead, or inquire about establishing affiliates or chapters of Real Poker LLC.
Real Poker has the potential to become a market disrupter by making professional poker easier to access at friendly, neighborhood establishments, and by organizing and conducting poker games and contests that are 100% controlled by the members of the Club.
Real Poker is also a grassroots movement. We encourage all Arizonans to take individual action to help reclaim our State’s sovereign authority to regulate any and all forms of gaming. This would open the door for licensed and taxed cardrooms, including ring games, as well as future sports betting, daily fantasy sports, or any other type of publicly accepted gaming. The "poison pill clause" of the 2003 state-tribal gaming compacts, enabled by initiative, prohibit this and relegate all regulated gambling to the BIA reservations in our state. “Compacts by initiative” are a potentially unconstitutional and unlawful concept, but with no return on investment for challenging or prohibiting the use of initiatives to negotiate the terms of future compacts, nobody has or will. A non-profit association such as Real Poker LLC could make a difference. We're not interested in the ROI. We’re interested in justice and the public benefit. We're interested in seeing the state get $20M in tax revenue from cardrooms rather than the paltry $1.2M that the tribes tithe to the euphemistically named the Arizona Benefits Fund. We're motivated in our cooperative pursuit of freedom, liberty, and the proliferation of poker throughout Arizona, including those 7 of 15 Arizona counties that don’t even have access to a tribal casino poker room.

Real Contests. Real Prizes. Real Cooperative.

Adding your name to the Articles of Organization is a demonstrative display of solidarity with club’s purpose, vision, mission and goals. Ownership provides no additional benefits beyond those that all members equally enjoy. Ownership provides a legal point of contact, the assumption of any liabilities associated with Club, and establishes an ownership trust responsibility to the club and its members. See our operating agreement for more details. No member receives dividends, distributions, interest or a percentage of revenues, if any, based solely on their status as a member of Real Poker, LLC.

Real Poker is a private 501c7 membership club, you must be a member (or member’s guest) to participate in Real Poker’s AGPT events.

Membership is not required to participate in public freeroll events, which are “not gambling” as there is no risk – nor monetization of free chips.

* A bona fide membership means that an existing member would be able to vouch for such former cardroom membership if a membership card or other evidence is not available. Bona fide defunct gray market cardroom members need contribute an aggregate of $160 to the club before they convert to lifetime membership with the option to freely become LLC owners. Members may pay their lifetime club membership at any time, whether they want to be on the LLC paperwork or not. It's a great way to show support for our club and our efforts. WIn an big event, put $200 in the club and forget about it. Former members of defunct social gambling cardrooms dues for their first year are considered paid by virtue of their early adoption of alternatives to poker games and contests relegated exclusively to another nation-state. Such individuals understand the need for public awareness about the predatory gambling pandemic and systemic problems with “compacts by initiative” and direct law that usurps Arizona’s regulated gambling exclusion from 97% of the State’s citizens.
